Draw the Circle Wide

I woke up this morning at 6:00 am and decided to change the name of the blog. I named it last night "All Together Now" while Steve, the kids, and I were watching The Great Muppet Caper. I knew there was a better name out there, but I did not have the focus I needed to pluck it out of my brain. For people outside the Corvallis First Christian Church community, "Draw the Circle Wide" is one of the favorite songs we sing in the 8:45 am service at church. The line that came to me this morning was:

"Draw the circle wide, draw it wider still, let this be our song, no one stands alone, standing side by side, draw the circle wide."

In the past I always thought about drawing the circle wide as a message of extreme inclusiveness. Today I am thinking about it also as a message of support; "no one stands alone standing side by side."

I will work on this blog as a way to put the information out there so that we can all stand side by side through this process.

I will draw the circle wide with this blog to include everyone who wants to share this process with us. Feel free to share this blog address with whoever you think might be interested.

Love, Emily

Emily,
This is a wonderful idea, and a great way to keep everybody informed! And, I couldn't think of a better name for the blog - we are all standing with Lynnie and your family as you face the challenges ahead. We hope you can draw strength from our circle of love.

I apologize if I sent this post twice - I have no clue what I'm doing! Carol

Dear Church Friends:

I have received a message from Emily and this is what you all will want to know for now about what the Evans family would like for help with meals during the chemo treatments People should know that the treatments will continue for four months, so there will be a lot of opportunity to help out and it need not all be accomplished in the first couple weeks. The Evans are very fine with a dinner or two a week, especially on Mondays and Wednesdays. You can fix enough for the six of them or for just two. They will share with one another whatever is available. We need to have people drop the food off at Herb's house 1415 NW Dixon St. There will always be someone home t here at 4:30 pm. Food can be dropped off any time after that.

Now, in terms of food preferences Lynnie DISLIKES:

Parmesan Cheese

Feta cheese

Blue cheese

Mushrooms

Fresh tomatoes (tomato sauces OK)

Spicy

Egg dishes (anything that resembles scrambled eggs)

Ranch flavor

Macaroni and cheese

The group that will receive this email have contacted me about helping. You can sign up to provide a meal for six starting Monday March 31. Respond to all of the people on the list when you choose a date and then everyone will know it is taken.

Emily is trying a blog to keep everyone informed so check this out:

Just remember to keep us all in the loop as we choose dates. Pamella

Mary Frederick works at dream dinners and would be happy to help put together some meals for Lynnie in the near future. The dream dinner meals are not fully cooked but are meals that are put together or pre-prepared for easy cooking at the person's convenience. If this sounds like a plan let me know and I can make some meals up for her. If other people want to put some money in an account for her at dream dinners then I can make up meals as the money allows as well.
Thank you,
Mary Frederick, fredericktg@comcast.net
